IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR RAVEN AT HOLMETHORPE FOR YOUR LONDON LIST
The best place to look for the Raven is to park in the small cemetery
layby nearly
opposite to the entrance of Nutfield Priory Hotel along
the A25 between Nutfield &
Redhill. Walk to the end of the western end
of the cemetery, along the pavement and
cross the stile for the footpath
that takes you north onto the sheep fields. Just
walk about 100m out
with small pool infront of you and scan the Rubbish Tip & the
North
Downs. The bird is somewhat sporadic and obviously ranges over a wide
area but
very distinctive with several secondaries missing from both
wings. The parking is
limited to 2hrs but one cannot imagine many traffic
wardens up there! Lots of young
lambs so no dogs would be a sensible
precaution. Also a model flying club use these
fields which can be
annoying at times.
